Feels like he’s just one tweet away from using a straight up slur. It really sucks because I used to support this band and generally liked them but every so ofte they just…post something that toes the line of edginess/offensiveness and never face any consequences. Which sucks, because they keep being able to post stuff like this.

 

Haven't they always been despicable and shown no interest in being otherwise? Literally ignore them. There is nothing they want more than somebody posting that in an accountability thread.

 

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I think they aren't called out enough on this stuff, honestly. Which is why they keep posting edgy/offensive stuff on social media because they know they can get away with it. In 2022, someone posting what seems to be a homophobic slur (according to my friend who is in the LGBTQ community) should absolutely be called out and not ignored, IMHO. Especially someone in the emo/punk scene where in said scene more and more people in the LGBTQ community have been accepted over the years.

Gay/queer dude here. Obviously queer people are not a monolith but I'd much rather see replies that tell them to shut the fuck up rather than people reposting it elsewhere and saying "oooooooooh look at what they said now!"

yeah they're well known assholes, homophobic slurs aren't the least bit surprising.

 

probably should be noted that it's a running theme on heart attack man stan twitter that the vast majority of their fans are queer/gay and eric very much embraces that so it's very unlikely this was meant to be homophobic, more likely just dumb and not thought out at all.

 

So in line with just about everything that band tweets then

 

using homophobic slurs just because some people are comfortable/OK seeing them is .... well ..... not an excuse at all.

This is not me defending them, but I remembered seeing this tweet from a week ago and was shocked it was from them

Like, their schtick is awful and bad, but I don’t think they’ve “shown no interest in being otherwise”. They have a lot of friends in the scene that I don’t think would support them if they were a shithead in real life. They’re just absolutely the worst online 99% of the time.

 

I'm just giving it context and the context is most of their fans aren't straight and I don't know if eric is straight. it's also annoying to see more about heart attack man being problematic for being twitter edge lords in this thread than I do about the festivals still booking all time low and the bands that are apparently good with putting their underaged female fans at risk

 

Queer HAMMY here. They made an attempt to bring out queer and non-male artists on their first headlining tour, we (their fans) know their feelings toward marginalized communities. I def get that from the outside looking in, optics really aren't great if you just look at their Twitter, & everyone is allowed to feel however they want towards them.

I can't speak for all of us non-straight non-cis fans of the band, but I think a lot of us know they're very supportive of us/other marginalized communities but also wish Eric didn't post some of the things he does.

 

Heart attack man guy has been an edge lord for as long as I can remember. Everyone in northeast Ohio knows he is and when he gets called on it he just claims it's a joke or "satire"

He also really enjoys posting pictures of him hold guns or knives and reminding people all the time that he owns these weapons. Which is definitely some wanna be tough guy incel shit.

 

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but the shit that bothers me most is that he is consistently posting pics of himself with guns/weapons???
