No, I don’t think it’s wrong tbh. I feel pretty similarly, when these types of things come out it really messes with me mentally and emotionally. Unfortunately, it also tends to remind me of my own experiences with abuse and trauma and that of course only adds to the emotional toll.

 

the fact that adam texted her on behalf of cam asking to delete that....pretty much proves everything she described about his behavior is true.

 

also really sad to read how cam took advantage of punk talks, and also was he really telling crowds therapy doesnt work? ive never really followed the band but if thats true that should've been a huge red flag. thats just a deeply irresponsible thing to preach

Wow... this really strikes a nerve with me. It reminds me of similar experiences I had with manipulative abusers. I want to help make this world a better place but this stuff is exhausting and it kills me inside to see this stuff happens to others

 

birds of the same feather flock together. not surprised Adam became Cam's spokesperson. Absolutely disgusting. If this happened in another industry, eg finance, outed person would be fired without question. The same standards need to apply in music and entertainment. I will stop listening to any of these bands in question - it's a personal choice and measure of my own mental strength to not give in to the temptation to listen. No press releases are going to explain any of these disgusting actions.

 

Yeah, Cam and Adam can take a running jump as far as I'm concerned. In particular Boucher has been exposed as a massive fraud even aside from the sexual assault allegations.

 

the post from Cam's ex is awful and Adam's attempted silencing of her is awful. I don't want to take the focus away from Cam's assault and abuse, but there's something I feel the need to bring up re: the twitter thread by PT

imo, PT's statement about how people should not talk about therapy doesn't work is repulsive and a harmful perspective to spread. lots of people are harmed by the existing mental health infrastructure (some, including myself as a teenager, have been actively traumatized by it) and the emphasis/pressure to receive standardized forms of care while neglecting individual differences in how people heal is truly awful. people with mental illness are already pressured enough to seek therapy by the people around them and above them as if it's the only way to get better, regardless of whether it works for them or not. it's absolutely essential to have voices advocating for people's right to determine what works for THEM, to have that be respected, and to refuse forms of treatment that they feel don't work for them without being on the receiving end of judgment and stigma by people who have no right to speak on their behalf.

again, this is just a reaction to PT's twitter thread about the mental health interview question, and not in a way a reaction to the victims' stories.

Yeah, I mean therapy is certainly beneficial for those who are open to receiving help, but not everyone is in a good place for it (or it may not be beneficial). But how PT took what Cam said - that it may not work for him but may help many others - and turned that into “he says therapy doesn’t work” is manipulative and self-serving

Not taking away from what a POS Cam has been exposed to be, but yeah

 

That's why I asked if he really said flat out don't do therapy, which is wildly different than it may not work for everyone

 

I've heard some shady things about PT too so /shrug whole thing is a mess

 

Wow, I’ve never heard of this person before and now it seems to just be adding into the swirling pool of toxic people. I thought the comments about Cam placing himself on a pedestal where he couldn’t be questioned were really important to add to the conversation here, but if that throwaway is telling the truth I have no idea how to feel about any of that twitter thread.

a tweet was posted in here accusing them of groping

 

They are to a different woman who had responded to Cam's statement where he said he spoke to his past partners. She is not the woman from the original accusation, but she is an ex of his who was pressured to delete her tweet about him forgetting to speak to her about it. She added her account to give more context to his behavior in relationships.

Gotcha. I didn’t have time to read the entire tumblr post, so thanks for the quick fill in. Definitely seems to be a pattern/trail at the least.

Definitely. I also think the most important part of what she added is the fact that the band was actively trying to cover this up and silence her. It puts everything into a very different light regarding their knowledge and actions.
