The current singer of With Confidence is a pedo and the Neck Deep allegations were against every member of the band except for the singer iirc. The guy they kicked out was a scapegoat.

 

The way that With Con got away with performatively kicking out one member & not the other when both had allegations levelled against them is bizarre to me.

On this subject overall, artists do need to be accountable for who they tour with. They're literally in the scene/surrounded by industry people, it can't be that hard to identify which bands are problematic.

Having said that, the onus also needs to be on perpetrators to own up to their actions, on their labels to stop enabling them and on fans to stop showing up for people accused of misconduct. These bands only get booked because people go to their shows.

 

I don’t know more about the story, but this seems like a pretty well-worded and sincere apology.

It's a mixture of the pop-punk resurgence + alt-rock absolutely scraping the bottom of the barrel for some kind of star. It absolutely sucks that of all the people that have been or are jumping on that bandwagon, he gets the most spotlight.

Not that I would cry too hard for the children of multimillionaires, but it sucks that Willow’s songs got like a sliver of the attention MGK got, even with Travis on them.

 

It’s not just Willow but lots of artists who are part of the new pop punk wave (Meet Me @ The Altar, Pinkshift, Action/Adventure, to name a few) don’t get the same attention. Obviously MGK is way bigger but it still sucks that he’s the one coming out of the pop punk wave on top with how shitty he is when genuine artists aren’t getting any of that attention.

 

MGK always felt disingenuous anyway - his coverage isn't/wasn't going to last.
