Losing out on 6 figure checks from Lolla and Gov Ball probably put some pressure on him.

That statement was absolutely written by a PR professional. Fuck this guy.

he clearly doesn't want education, it's like the people saying they want to do their own research with the vaccine. if you haven't done it by now, you clearly don't want to.

The Offspring fired their drummer because he refused to get vaccinated. Other bands, take notes.

he says his doctor advised him not to get it due to a real condition he has, which is all fine and understandable, but then he gets into some anti vaxx rhetoric that really makes you question the legitimacy of his reason

If you have a medical condition that makes getting vaccinated dangerous wouldn’t you want to encourage as many people to get vaccinated as possible so as to keep you safer?

Yeah it's completely fine if someone has a legitimate medical reason not to get vaccinated but for him to then start talking about "the vaccine hesitant" as if that's the group he belongs to (it isn't, he has a medical reason to not get vaccinated) is harmful af. Was expecting there to be some kind of statement like "If you are medically able to do so, you should get the shot", but nope.

  14. Yeah, I was under the impression that it was just a leave of absence because he was medically unable to get it, but I hadn't read the full post with the anti-vax stuff. I have a friend who can't get the vaccine (severe allergic reaction to it), and her post about it was reinforcing that everyone else needs to get it so she can be safe too.

I'm always immediately skeptical of those claims. Anti-vaxx groups pass along lists of 'doctors' who are more than willing to take anti-vaxx money to advise that people don't get vaccines.

I'm not going to question whether or not he actually has the condition he claims to have, and I don't think that's anyone's place to do either. What I take issue with is using his alleged medical condition as a way to reinforce anti-vaxx rhetoric, which is bullshit and fucked.

I don’t doubt it but it’s also a fine line because discrediting medical professionals is kind of what led to the anti vaxx movement in the first place. Which is why people should have their own doctor(s) they see long term and build a relationship with and can trust for medical advice. Myself, I don’t have a PCP but I do have a very good psychiatrist that would never steer me wrong when it comes to medical issues and who I should see or what I should do

I'm going to. GBS has literally not been linked to the Moderna/Pfizer vaccines, only the J&J.

Broadly, I have trouble giving the benefit of the doubt to anybody who refers to getting vaccinated as “the jab.”

Also he couldn't understand why a virologist who regularly sings for thousands of people would be concerned

Right, and concerned not just for the audience, but for the rest of the band and for Pete himself! It's not safe for Pete to be a touring musician as a person who is unvaccinated due to a medical condition.

I understand being frustrated at losing your job over a medical condition out of your hands but it sounds like from what I’ve read twice now from people familiar with the condition that it’s just the Johnson and Johnson he should stay away from? def starting to just sound like cover to be an anti vaxxer and resent people who are in favor of the vaccine

My brother in law has GBS and isn’t getting vaxxed because of that but he’s always been advocating for others to do so if they can. I understand the GBS concern with J&J but it’s like a .0007% or something insanely low, so it’s been annoying seeing people play that off as super dangerous as an anti vax rhetoric.
