I have a friend with something like 10 front bottoms inspired tats and i'm not sure if she's aware of what's going on with them or not and if i should even bring it up, i don't know how she would react given her uhhh permanent devotion to them.

Most of their fans don’t know unfortunately, or choose to ignore it. They’re playing Lollapalooza this year and the amount of people I’ve seen posting about being excited to see them (and people going to their other dates) is….a lot. It sucks. I’m sure this was very intentional since only people on their mailing list saw their statement. They aren’t dumb, they knew what they were doing.

Fuck Proper. is disappointing as hell. Bottom line, the actual survivor is telling them Dylan hasn’t taken accountability. Believe them and stop trying to justify the bad choices being made, along with policing how Dylan should be reprimanded in absolute disregard to the survivor. Fucking gross.

So I just discovered GRLwood bc they were added to the Bonnaroo lineup. Started digging their music and then saw someone on a Bonnaroo forum post that they had rape accusations against them...can’t find any other info, anyone here know the outcome of this?

It’s good that they are still talking and Proper isn’t just brushing them off.

Plus I think Proper has their mind set on going on this tour so they’ll try and gymnastics justify.

Whoa, I had no idea about that. I always get the creeps when older men are dating literal teenagers, even if they are legal. We called out Drake in this thread for texting minors and I feel like this is no different, even if it seems like she consents to the relationship, especially because of the big power imbalance with their ages.

I won't ever justify other's behavior based on things that happened "10 years ago" - however, it is hard for me to not feel a brief moment of pause since I feel that I'm in the minority of individuals who drastically changed mentally as an adult (at age 30) when I escaped a fucking cult I was born and raised in that was very homophobic and held racist and sexist teachings.

Breaking free from a religion/cult like that is near impossible. I consider myself extremely fortunate. The consequences took an incredible mental toll and I'm still dealing with them 6 years later (family/friends/social consequences). Having your entire worldview shatter in a single night is a mindfuck not many people will have to go through. If you'd like to read some experiences: the subreddits: exmormon, exjw, and exmuslim are fascinating.

Also, sorry. This probably isn't the place to share this. Any threads on this forum where this could be discussed?

Mad respect for getting out. I have a lot of friends back in Cleveland that grew up in the JW community and it’s wild to hear some of those stories. Hearing about their ex-communication stories are always interesting.

I know some people that had shitty opinions and thoughts at one point, but when they had their moment of realization, they kept the old image going on social media in line with the normal posting cadence to not throw the community off. It’s unfortunate, but when you are trying to get out you can’t give away signs.

I don’t know either how this pertains to accountability and what this thread normally discusses, but I did want to offer my support to your situation.
