No one should be going to Riot Fest until Buck is off the staff.

RF already has had a problem with booking the bare minimum of female acts. He’s absolutely culpable in that.

 

Part of me wants to go and cover it and refuse to talk about anything but this.

You know, assuming COVID ever lets things like that happen again.

 

I was curious about your last statement (because Buck is most likely culpable in that as you said) and decided to do some math. Here are the acts with at least one non man in them vs the overall amount of acts booked at Riot Fest over the past couple of years. This is...not good.

2019 - 19/92 (20%)
2018 - 19/89 (21%)
2017 - 19/91 (20%)
2016 - 28/123 (22%)

(2015 looks awfully similar and likely falls around the 20ish percent)

 

Just want to chime in and remind people that non-binary and trans people also play RF. Excluding them by simply saying women invalidates those communities. Saying non-men or non-cisgender-men is more inclusive. :)

I get the idea of lampooning shitty abusive dudes in bands, but I feel like if you’re going to make satire of this it should be tactful (or funny) and it’s not either of those things. So it comes off silly at best and incredibly tone-deaf at worst.

 

Yes it is. I was going to say in response to what else he has done that he’s one of those guys who doesn’t get “triggered” when he’s called out and acts like negative responses to his actions don’t matter to him and shit like that. He’s a very “I don’t give a shit what you think” kind of guy.

I remember I was able to be part of a group of people who talked to Mayday Parade on AIM (probably ‘09) and I was asked if I was male or female. When I replied with “male” the band didn’t continue talking to me. Ever since then I had a “fuccboi” vibe from them.

 

Bringing this back in light of these predatory fucks announcing a new album today.
