I literally grew up in an ultra racist, religious, conservative group of 99% white people and that word has never passed my lips. Who the fuck do these dudes think they’re fooling.

Jesus christ, I liked that band :/

At first I thought he grew up in a small rural town where they didn't really educate about slurs, but nah, homeboy's from fucking Spokane, Washington, and must've been at least 20 years old when he sent that.

    Fuck that shit.

My dad/extended family said it often and as a kid I knew it was a bad word but not to the level of how truly bad it was and the evil behind it. The south is extremely racist to the point where it’s essentially in casual conversation.

Back in high school I knew a bunch of scene type guys who thought it was hilarious to throw that word around.

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

I went to a very multi-cultural school where black guys were vocal about why we should say the word. Some white guys still thought they were hilarious for saying. I bet they make excuses now too.

metalcore bands have the same problem with being racist that emo bands have with sexually abusing people i guess

Being a mixed race person growing up in that scene fucking sucked because I had to spend a loootta years acting like it was totally fucking chill that my white friends thought they had free range to throw the word around as often as they wanted, including legitimately derogatorily, just because they were friends with the only brown dude that liked breakdowns

  19. They are some terrible, fake-ass friends. I’m sorry you were subjected to that bullshit.

ditched them all by now, and thankful that we are entering a time where people like Matty and the Ghost Inside chump are afraid to act that way

I played drums in a local metalcore band all throughout high school, and I’m ashamed of the behavior I saw and let others get away with. Our singer was biracial and openly gay and the “jokes” my other bandmates and our so-called friends made at his expense were disgusting. I purposefully stayed closeted because of it.There were things that went on in that scene that are still genuinely horrifying and embarrassing to me to this day, and I’m so thankful I got out when I did. It took me a long time to unlearn some of the stuff I picked up from being around people like that.
