Saw this on twitter and it is still crazy to think about. I’ll admit, I still supported them originally after the allegations but I stopped when I found out the survivor was not comfortable with them continuing as a band. I know the situation with Evan from Pinegrove isn’t all “resolved”, but it still is baffling that he took a year off and Pitchfork wrote a long article on the situation but the TMP situation (where the survivor is anonymously public unlike Pinegrove where we don’t hear from the survivor much) is basically ignored now. I’m not saying that Pinegrove should not have had to do that, I’m saying it’s crazy TMP didn’t have to go through nearly the same amount of accountability.

 

Update. I haven’t found anything to support this claim but I will edit this post if I find anything else.

 

“Cleared up” by going to therapy for 1 week

 

It’s been over a month since the survivor tweeted anything about Dylan/the assault/situation, and I only brought it up after seeing that tweet. The survivor is still active on Twitter though. I’m not saying that the situation has been resolved, I’m just saying maybe they did clear it up? I guess this may be a situation where we never truly know the status of it or if it gets resolved.

 

For me it's always going to be something that clouds the music. I'm not a huge TMP fan, but I like some their stuff. It's been difficult for me to listen to anything new because of this. We aren't owed any explanation or anything, but I hope that the survivor gets some sort of closure/healing.

 

I hope they get closure too. The original accusation also accused Ciaran O’Donnell, formerly of The Front Bottoms of sexual assault but people really seem to have forgotten that (or I haven’t seen much talk of it). He never acknowledged the allegation so maybe that’s why, but he needs to be held accountable as well.

 

The Dylan from TMP situation is not resolved, as far as anyone outside of Dylan and the survivor knows. The guy went to therapy for a week and then proceeded to go about his business like nothing ever happened. The survivor did not want to engage with him at the time (probably for a reason!) and has not said anything about any resolution since. Not resolved by any stretch of the imagination.

And yeah it is very sick and also cool how many bands continue to tour with them and be cool with them like nothing happened. Bands like Microwave, Free Throw, Jetty Bones, etc. Total pass has been given. Sickening.
