I moshed at my first metal concert and got kicked squarely in the face. Thus ended my moshing career.

Andrew McMahon is easily the most chilled gig experience ever. Most polite crowd I've ever been a part of.

I really don't like going to Friday/saturday night shows because chances are there will be a tonne of really drunk people who have decided they are going to mosh on everyone on the vicinity and wildly flail their limbs into people because that is their weird, fucked up definition of the word "fun".

I saw Arctic Monkeys earlier this year and the people in front of me and my friends were terrible. This one girl stamped on my friends foot and laughed at her, causing her to decide to leave before the encore. This other 6'4 behemoth was clearly hammered and kept falling back onto us, his elbows inches away from smacking my friend between the eyes multiple times. and then he had the tenacity to threaten us when we pushed him off us for the 10th time that night.

i know it would never happen (especially given the number of concerts in nightclubs and bars), but I would absolutely love for there to be a ban on selling alcohol at the venue (or at least a curfew of some kind). Feels like most of the trouble makers are there for themselves and don't care about the music and I wish more bands would call these people out on it.

The only real violent experience I’ve had at a show was during a set by a The Ghost Inside at a Riot Fest in Toronto a number of years back. My girlfriend at the time and I were watching off to the side of the pit (she was very short and it was the only place we could find where she could see over the people around her), and this one asshole started crowd killing in our area. He was throwing punches at people’s faces and bodies near us, and I was keeping my eye on him to make sure he didn’t come anywhere near us. I hate telling this story because on the internet it probably reads like me trying to sound macho etc, but I’m a big dude who is largely a nonviolent individual and one who tries to avoid physical confrontation at all costs. Anyway, eventually he came toward us when I had taken my eyes away from him for a moment and he punched my girlfriend clean in the back of the head. Hard. She started crying, and I grabbed him by the throat, looked him in the eyes, and shouted at him to get the fuck out of there or things were going to get ugly. He backed away kind of smirking and had a crazy look in his eye staring at me, and then kind of disappeared into the crowd. I didn’t see him for several songs, and then out of nowhere he appeared again throwing multiple punches at the back of my girlfriend’s head again cutting her wide open. I snapped, threw him down to the ground, and threw more punches at him than I care to admit, and I’m certain I broke his jaw. Security got involved and police got involved, and we were taken in for questioning, but no charges were pressed and it was deemed I was merely defending my 90 pound, 5’1 girlfriend from serious injury, which I very clearly was. Not a fun experience.

That’s all for my wall of text. Apologies.

One of the worst times I had was at, of all concerts, a N.E.R.D concert because their opener was O.A.R., and Pharrell encouraged all the frat bros to crowdsurf then scolded the audience for not holding them up, when it was clear they didn’t know how to do it and kept kicking people in the head.

I was caught in a crowdsurf traffic jam with two bros on my back. When I hit the ground, one of them stole all my merch. It was the worst.

One time at a Wonder Years show, some crowd surfing guy fell on top of another guy and immediately started cussing the poor bystander out for not holding him up and called him a f*g, so I punched him in the throat and shoved him back into the pit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

moshpits can be amazing if they’re respectful. stage-diving and crowdsurfing have always been horrible and stupid

I remember falling down at a Foo fighters show as they ripped into All My Life and I'm pretty lucky the guy behind me lifted me back up as soon as hit the deck.

Crowdsurfers are the worst, I saw Kisschasy a few years back and these drunk dudes kept trying to crowdsurf every song. the dude in front snapped and launched himself into this guy (and by extension me, as I was part of the crowd which got knocked back). It was pretty scary, but at least the crowd cleared up a tonne after that and I ended up closer to the front lol.

The only time I’ve seen a good crowdsurf was at Aquabats and Matt & Kim when they warned the audience they’d be surfing. The one good thing about seeing all these bands that I grew up with is that everyone else is older and done with all that.

Audience crowd surfers ruin shows. Full stop. So annoying to have a security guard constantly get up in my face while I’m trying to watch the performance to catch the same like ten people who keep constantly crowdsurfing up to the front. Ban that crap.

My first experience with deathcore was Impending Doom at Peabody's in '08, a dude who looked like he was on roids/PCP somersaulted over the chest high bar table in front of me and kick me in the head. I think that was the only time I've been pissed/terrified/kinda impressed at a HxC show lol.

Not to defend crazy antics at shows, but I still contend that you can attend a show and avoid getting hurt. I've never been to a venue where there wasn't some safe place you could watch the show from.

Not that we should have to adjust to accommodate for moshers/crowdsurfers; just that you don't have to stop going to shows because you're afraid of getting hurt (this excludes random acts of violence/gangs/whatever)

This band should not be getting any hype to release new music.

if what i'm seeing from the twittersphere and reddit is accurate, whirr isn't coming back in any capacity beyond dropping an album they had recorded before the gloss incident. still a shitty cash grab tough when they probably should've just stayed dead.

edit: written, not recorded. apparently they recorded it last year with one of the dudes from cloakroom...which makes me sad cause cloakroom rules and shouldn't have been anywhere near this.
