That obviously isn't me, but I'm not sure casually disclosing this type of data is consistent with the Privacy Policy here. In fact, I really doubt it is. I only bring that up because I think we all have the right to know whether private data from server logs is fair game for public airing of grievances (considering you implied something about my location, almost as if they'd already know I'm somewhere other than NY).

Am I completely missing a joke and Nate is the Bernie troll account? Otherwise, I'm just saying you gave that troll account's location down to the city (which technically isn't really kosher), then said something about me that seemed like "obviously it's not him if this new account is from NY." I never talk about my location here, so wanted to make sure I understand the parameters of what data can be disclosed on the forum, in other chats, etc.

Thanks for clarifying. Obviously IPs will reveal our location (and I assume those may be visible to mods, even?), but definitely seems like one of those things that should be strictly confidential within the ranks of those who have access, regardless of how obnoxious someone's content might be. As long as that's the policy and how it's practiced, disregard my other posts.

They are not. They're used for detecting spam accounts (like the Bernieinc account) and malware.
