He followed it up with some tweet about how we shouldn’t pick at each other’s words and that we can’t be divided as long as we all want equality so as per usual, transphobia and specifically transmisogyny is seen as a secondary issue and calling it out is overreacting

 

Best case scenario; everything here is honest and progress has been made to seeking closure and harm reduction in the future, put on the band Facebook as earlier this year it had played out someone publicly and is seeking to close that
Worst case scenario: several things are overstated and we’re about to be sold something within the next week

Either way, I do hope that there is some kind of closure for the person who made the statement, the shit with Nicole was fucking weird and while seeking reparations and recovery for something harmful that happened may have been wanted being forced to go a public route without your knowledge can set that back

 

To put it mildly. Like... there are so many layers here.

As for Bemis... I just want so many men in music to take a year off and have to sit with the shit they say. Maybe even experience some growth. ffs.

though in all seriousness, I do sincerely hope that isn't what's happening because it's bad enough to claim progress when you've ignored several people you've hurt during the period you claimed you were making amends but it's even worse for them to have to see your face everywhere. I'm also guessing if there are other people he's not addressing, he also probably didn't actually handle the person he did talk to in as constructive of a way as he tried to word, but I don't wanna speculate on that too much out of respect for that person. The other thing I'll say on this is that the people within the music industry I see or have seen defending him or downplaying it aren't people I trust to hold their friends accountable, not that that's a particularly groundbreaking discovery for the music industry.

 

Honestly, the public pronouncements of "Hey it's all better now! Safe to come back and support me!" just get instant side-eye from me. Only reason to do it is because you're trying to give fans cover to stan you again. Cam is clearly about to try and mount some kind of a comeback. I'm not putting any stock in anything he says. Also yeah, immediately called out for pretending he only ever had one victim so it's basically one glowing Pitchfork profile away from being an exact replay of the Pinegrove situation.

 

Cam’s statement is pretty bad on multiple levels but I disagree he’s going to turnaround and try and ‘sell us’ something. Earlier this year (before accusations) he came out and said after the SN tour he was going on a long hiatus anyway.

 

yeah he did, everyone forgets that he was taking a break from SN/Old Gray/whatever other stuff he does before that shit happened. The aborted Wonder Years UK tour support slot was gonna be their final set of shows for a long time.

 

Tbh tho I feel like I did hear ppl say that those haitus’ Were to try to beat accusations before they were made, even with just rumblings before stuff was said on reddit.

 

Mostly just wish that these musicians who take the time to learn the terminology would take the time to put actual meaning behind them but that’s wishful thinking. Not to mention seeing other musicians or industry people decide to revive takes about how harsh ppl are and how there too much black and white thinking that they had suspiciously vaguely put out there when the pinegrove pitchfork article came out is exhausting.

At this point I’m just like can u just make your shitty statement (or don’t at all) without the leftist thesaurus being used for every run on sentence, send a monthly check to the ppl you hurt for therapy bills (if that’s what those ppl agree to) and get a job at a call center instead of dragging this out

 

Really curious to know how someone was able to post trash from the human garbage pile that is the BN subreddit in the supposedly locked BN thread. Also major shade at everyone that liked that post.

On the one hand it’s enlightening to see who liked that post, very telling, but on the other hand yeah that probably shouldn’t be on the site at all and should be deleted immediately. Save it for the scum who visit the BN subreddit and still stan JL publicly.

 

Sometimes I think about how the allegations against Jesse Lacey surfacing derailed his pretentious-ass band's swansong by exposing him as a sex pest and I laugh and laugh.

 

I have a lot of feelings and I don’t think they belong in this thread, which is why I wish the thread wasn’t locked. I totally get the reasoning and I don’t even disagree with it, but I do wish I had a place to kinda vent about it and it be “on topic”

 

The idea of finding any kind of joy in a situation that involved someone being outed as an abuser is like...literally absurd and just...bad. Sorry but that is gross to me

Like...people were actively harmed and traumatized by his actions so it’s extremely weird to me to be happy about it, even in a “he deserves the fallout” kind of way.

It's not a humorous sort of reaction, more like a 'this was such an absurd situation and it's just wild to me that the remaining band members didn't try to save face by distancing themselves from him' reaction. Like it could have played out so differently and they just... left it there? It was a pretty poorly-worded post but basically what I was getting at was... you know the whole No Devotion/Lostprophets situation and how that unfolded, and then this was like... the exact opposite of that. So badly handled. JL got what was coming to him but the other band members didn't have to just fold like that. That's the part of it that strikes me as hilarious in a sad way. It's been just over a year since that happened and they can't come back from it because they just didn't say anything when all that came to light.
