Definitely thought it was a little odd that Jezebel posted a positive review of the album days after her domestic violence accusations

Nicki is right that Gaga shouldn't have sang "do what you want with my body" on a song featuring R Kelly but saying hey other people work with abusers too to deflect from your own shitty behavior is wack

Of course nicki’s gonna take that as she shouldn’t be held responsible, but she absolutely should be held responsible, it’s just those other people should be too

Cardi doesn’t exactly have a great track record on social issues so I’m not surprised

Especially when their music sucks and is trash anyways. Just adds to the confusing support.

Why the sudden lenience for someone who has a track record for this shit?

  13. This is kind of the most important take away from all of this discourse I'm seeing right now, to be honest.

It's mind numbing to see people (I'll be real - especially white folks and just men in general) who are rightfully taking Minaj to task over who she has chosen to be but are still loud about their problematic (or worse) male faves, and like...

She deserves accountability. But I will forever be frustrated how folks suddenly remember what acting right and demanding change looks like when and only when a non-man (especially if that non-man is black) messes up IN ANY GENRE OF MUSIC. When it's a man, there's like two days of faux-outrage and then it's back to his missteps being a punch line or charming anecdote while folks publicly celebrate the music.

    I just don't get it.

I’ve definitely noticed that people (definitely A LOT of men) are WAY quicker to “cancel” someone like Nicki or Cardi over transgressions and pretty much negate any good they’ve done while definitely being more forgiving toward someone like Kendrick for supporting xxx.

  15. Or even more forgiving towards XXX. That's why it's so damn wild.

It’s like an idea that women should call this shit out, while men are given no expectations for accountability whatsoever. So Nicki supporting an abuser gets more backlash than the actual abuse. Men should be expected to be against this shit, but that’s so far from reality.

It’s odd to me that she is receiving the most backlash for backing an abuser when she had just recently been accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend, which has seemed like a footnote in comparison

  19. I'm guessing people are ignoring it because they don't know what to make of it, and DV against men isn't taken seriously in general. It's a topic of discussion when it's against women, but usually to try to discredit them or defend the perpetrator... but her ex also downplayed it, so I'm guessing that's why folks are just ignoring it (doesn't make it okay, that's just my guess). My head hurts trying to wrap itself around the mess here.
