Anyone who is surprised must live under a rock. Norm has always been this way. It's a shame because I don't think there is anyone better at interviews.

 

Gotta say - I hate the reaction of “If you didn’t know about that, you’re (sheltered/ignorant/etc.)” Even if it’s not the goal, it feels like it’s letting the shitty person off the hook because “they’ve always been that way.”

If you only knew about Norm from SNL and his other shows, you wouldn’t know he has incredibly bad opinions and it’s okay to say “Welp never knew that was his way of thinking.”

 

And there's a huge difference between kind of a dick and what he said about Louie

 

The Down Syndrome thing almost makes it seem like this is a really bad bit he's doing? Like there's no way he didn't know how saying that would go

 

It being a “bit” would be a totally inexcusable defense.

The wild part is that the news report I saw made a point to address her potential “flirting” or “leading him on” and just...didn’t at all address the fact that it’s completely inappropriate behavior for a business meeting and completely did not mention the power dynamic. They kinda skirted around the power dynamic thing. It’s just like if you’re going to report on this could you actually comment on why it’s fucked up instead of asking the woman if there was something she did to encourage it
