I have a lot of respect for Lindsay Ellis and her perspective. Not sure what my nuanced take on all the layers of this would be, tbh.

 

I've legitimately apologized time and time again and have been working on changing and approaching things in a more constructive and positive manner. I'm not trolling.

In this current conversation, if you take my primary comment, all I did was ask questions because I was genuinely curious and I like engaging in these types of conversations because I like seeing other people's views on subjects that intrigue me.

I didn't say anything of offense. I didn't take Gunn's side or say I thought what he said should be said. I asked if he should be treated for the person he was or for the person he is. Ironic that I have to ask that since I'm starting to get the answer right now...

 

I mean, your post also said you understood Gunn’s “intent” with his post, but faulted his execution.

So, uh, yeah, I don’t see how your post and my post are the same.

 

Saying I understand something doesn't mean I agree with something. That's pretty easy to understand, right?

I said I understand his intent, because I get that he was trying to be provocative, from what I read online, because he's an avid denouncer of Trump and people who support him, and was presumably trying to rile them (or possibly others) up. What left a sour taste in my mouth is the fact that he thought it was alright. He thought "this is the best way to state my opinion and thoughts on the people I have no tolerance for" and that's upsetting.

I have no idea what you are talking about. His offensive comments were made a decade ago. He wasn’t trying to rile up Trump supporters because there were none at the time.

Ahh. Then I read a inaccurate article. I apologize for my ignorance.

Edit: I went back and read the article. I completely misread and misunderstood the comment. It said "According to Fox News, they were posted because Gunn is an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and the effort was to knock him down a few pegs." And I mistakenly thought they were talking about knocking down Trump, not Gunn. I really apologize.

 

I don’t think bringing up a secondary situation about someone else saying something else is really the best way to do that.
