I'm not really familiar with the Garfield canon so maybe there's a logical explanation in there somewhere.

Speaking of Texas local band nostalgia I listened to When I Am God on the way to work this morning, it was fun

 

Damn I didn't know Garfield was a Nazi

 

That album was so good. I bought the one after and didn't like it as much, never checked out anything they did after that

 

Son Of The Morning had like 3 great songs on it but it didn't have the consistency that When I Am God had at all

There were definitely a lot more "We're shredding because we can do that!" songs on SOTM.

 

I guess both are concept albums but WIAG felt a lot more natural and cohesive.

Can't tell you how many times I listened to that album. Then saw them play those songs at Plano Centre. Good times

My favorite show memories around here (other than big acts) are Oh, Sleeper playing in Fort Worth or The Chariot/Belle Epoque playing in tiny clubs and warehouses. So much fun.

 

Pretty much. Their old sounds was actually unique at the time.

I was always more of a fan of Terminal. Oh Sleeper just seemed generic to me

 

I definitely disagree that Oh, Sleeper was generic when they came out but Terminal was very good.

So was Alive In Wild Paint in my humble opinion.

 

I never listened to Terminal though I'm pretty sure I saw them once

 

Alive In Wild Paint was definitely great! And yeah in retrospect Oh, Sleeper definitely wasn't generic just for me at the time I thought it was haha.

It's pretty remarkable how many great bands have come out of Texas

Of course the only Texan musicians that are coming to mind are Beyonce, Ashlee and Jessica Simpson and the Dixie Chicks, duh ugk
