I'd like to say I'm at least a little less negative and cranky than I was a year ago... lol

But I almost want to go volunteer down there and help set IT stuff back up for people or something.

Idk if there are going to be any paid positions to do that sort of stuff, but I'd be up for it.

Not like I have anything else going on.

 

Indeed is posting tons of jobs for disaster relief companies looking for contract work around here. But it's mostly manual labor that I've seen.

 

I was just looking at Indeed - I found a couple of IT spots in Dallas for one of the shelters

 

Idk how terrified I should be about this hurricane but I'm definitely terrified

How much is gas down there? It went up 65 cents here overnight so I can only imagine how much it is in Florida.

Please stock up on canned goods, and water. Make sure you take down any hazards at home, e.g. a basket of knives on top of a shelf, etc.

we have canned food, flashlights, batteries and bottled water. gonna buy more water today if there is any left to buy

 

It's not going to dump 50 inches of rain though, luckily. It sounds like it will keep moving and not stall.

 

Gas here went from 2.20 to 2.60... I'd be scared to see what's going on further south.

But yeah, get some empty 5gal water jugs and fill them up with tap water, if nothing else.

Fill up your bath tubs. That's what my aunt and them are doing along with bottles/jugs of water. Stay safe. We everyone of ya.

 

Jesus. a guy on my Facebook who works retail said there is a line at his store to get water...like just to get it. lived here my whole life and really hope it's just business as usual but I'm getting really nervous about it.

 

This hardly seems like time for a bubble bath

 

My comfy little nook in upstate NY makes me unable to picture what a natural disaster is even like so I'm super thinking of you all

Same. Hope y'all are safe out there. It's hard for me to comprehend the amount of destruction that has occurred in the States in the last week or so and how it's not over yet. People always say things like, "I'd never wanna live in California cause of the earthquakes" but I've honestly never experienced one on a grand scale in my 25 years of living.
