What's to be embarrassed about? It's just a guy with a .270 OBP trying to show up a two time MVP in a game the Barves ultimately lose.

briefly (or not), the nerd case for judge as the clear al mvp, without need for further discussion: i'm a true believer in all the nerd stats, hate me if you want. but that means you have to be rational about the error bars on war, which can be as big as ~0.5, maybe even a bit more, for a single season. that info is out there somewhere and i don't want to look it up right now. (i'm looking at fwar right now btw). we know that defensive metrics are the most volatile and least reliable of the various components of war. that's the only fwar component where witt is lapping judge (and there is a little bit of positional adjustment in there bc judge is a dh about 30% of the time and witt has just played SS this yr). so I think it's very legal and very cool to then prioritize offensive metrics, whether advanced or basic. judge has been 50% better than witt by my preferred all-encompassing offensive metric (wrc+). if you wanna go old school, his slg starts with a 7. I think it's fine to say "hey if we only have one guy slugging 700 and he's played the full season that's the mvp and I'm gonna use the rest of my brain for other stuff now."
