Really Weird: this is actually when several of the first Terrain songs were conceived and recorded in demos.

I had made the sacrifice of moving out of Baltimore to go live with my band’s bassist so we could be productive and we ALMOST got to the point of releasing shit. ALMOST. Then the drummer left.

And this is when I was working on finishing my first album as Northbrook

I listened to the first four Hold Steadys yesterday

 

Upsides came out right when I was going away for college in 2010, had no friends my freshman year and was very alone/isolated so I leaned on that album heavily

 

Maybe I've mentioned it here but I went to Riot Fest (feat. The Gaslight Anthem) with 2 friends (1 of whom I had a crush on) and that friend and I kissed during "The 59 Sound" and tried to start a relationship, and she died a week later and the other friend is dead now too so any time I hear that album at all I just think about them

I've been terrible at listening to new music this year. Probably only listened to Kacey and that's it lol

 

The Gaslight Anthem are a weird band for me because I love them and they were huge for me from like 2008-2014 but I think if I listened to them for the first time now I’d think ehhhh.

Gaslight Anthem is a band I acknowledge is good and has a neat niche and writes songs that really mean a lot to people, but never personally got into

I definitely agree with this and it's a big part of me not listening to Get Hurt ever, it just felt like there's no chance I'd be into it at this day and time, and when I did actually listen to History Books that confirmed it more
