alright dickheads here's the situation. one train is *always* stopped on set of the tracks, running either north or south. it is waiting for a completely different train to pass by on the *other* set of tracks. once that 2nd train passes, THEN the first train moves. that is literally always the situation with these bullshit ass trains

those train tracks basically run parallel to the highway that I am on for the majority of my drive. I exit on the same road that my office is on, which is about 2 miles west of the highway. If I exit at either of the 2 prior roads, they also end up crossing the tracks. If I exit 1 mile north, it also crosses the tracks.

I *could* go continue on the highway and go 2 miles further north/northwest to take the toll road, which loops around and I end up like 3 miles north of the road my office is on. Assuming there's no delays, that adds 10-12 minutes to my commute, because once you're off the toll road, you're dealing with stoplights in a heavy traffic area.

so I don't just take the toll road every time because it might not be necessary at all, but I can't tell if the train is stopped until I'm already off the highway on my main route, so I'd have to make a u-turn just to get back to the highway
