A friend posted this in another group chat Re: the bridge collapse

"First off I want to qualify myself so people don’t think I’m just some random person coming up with ideas. I’m a subject matter expert in foreign vessel inspections. I’ve inspected these ships for over 13 years now in both the Coast Guard, and as a civilian. The vessel clearly loses power at which point the emergency generator comes on.

The emergency generator is a closed loop system that is required to automatically activate during a loss of power within 30 seconds. because this is a much smaller engine, it will only power the most critical systems on the ship. The second time they lose power is them shifting from the emergency generator to their second source of power on a different generator set up. That is why it’s so quick. The black smoke you were seeing is them shifting from forward propulsion to all stop and then into reverse.

Unfortunately, they were hard over to port side (left) trying to recover the drifting ship back into the channel. when you attempt to go into reverse, and your hard over to left, the bow of the ship will swing right due to its forward momentum and you can see that happen at the very last second before alliding (not colliding) with the bridge. This is just my professional opinion as I see it from the video. Obviously, this is all conjecture, but it seems to be the case."
