Good points everybody I just think that “not throwing picks” is somehow an underrated feat haha. People are so quick to criticize young QBs for throwing interceptions but like the best QBs in the league still throw like 5-10 bad / no excuse interceptions most of their seasons, and only very occasionally do you see actual elite competitors do less (like Tom Brady’s 2016 and 2010, which were low-volume years for him too and he finished more than 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns behind Lamar’s projected finish).

avoiding picks is just too “expected” of good players compared to how rare it actually is. If Lamar throws 10 INTs and loses 5 fumbles, even though those are still low turnover numbers people would be calling him turnover prone. But the inverse isn’t even true and people still act like he’s defined by seasons where he was more prone to mistakes even when he’s not throwing ANY picks lol, he doesn’t get the same level of credit for NOT doing it as he gets criticism for doing it *some* but still not even a lot
