I hate peak pricing fuck that shit. Paying 46 fucking dollars for a 15-17 minute drive LOL fuck all the way off, I can get to DC and back without a car for half that. You better get out the car and help me do my laundry for that money

Ive been on bachelor parties where at a steakhouse we have spent like $1300 between 8 or 9 of us. I dont think thats insane.

Our first anniversary dinner was like $400 all said and done and that was just 2 people.

sometimes it do be fun to dine out fancy.

 

lol that’s fair and I’ve done it too. I’m just being a curmudgeon. The idea of “yeah why not toss on a bottle of something” is so foreign to me lol. When we’ve done it it’s been very planned out and budgeted and saved for.

I feel like coworkers LOVE talking about that extra hour of sleep, but cool now it’s dark at 4:30 pm and freakin’ 8:30 pm feels like midnight

It’s awful until March. Officially worst time of year starts now

For 7 people though? Haha it was celebratory! It was the mom / grandma’s 60th birthday

 

Yeah $100+ per person is pretty normal for fine dining. On weekdays its about $100 (some tables a little less, some a little more) on average but weekends people do go there expecting to order several really nice cocktails or a really nice bottle of wine and spend $150-$200 per head. Celebrating, business meeting, on vacation etc. Especially if it’s a large party. That’s the whole point of that level of restaurant. I would say 70%-80% of my guests most days are either staying directly in the hotel (which is already the top hotel in Baltimore and essentially implies that person had money to spend), or are celebrating a birthday or anniversary, or are on a company card doing a business sales meeting or business luncheon with other local upper managers / small business CEOs. Ive served a fairly popular TV actress, an NFL team president, and the city council president in the last month among other things.

 

Yes, when customers come in my restaurant and ball tf out just because, it is certainly wild to put myself in their shoes, that’s never gonna be my life, I certainly didn’t make the right choices in life if that was a priority for me lol.

BUT to be fair… your wife almost bought you a $1500 guitar *on impulse* in the middle of dealing with a huge home buying / selling crisis - and you’re not even planning on playing it thru an amp

You know how foreign that is to me, the musician who WORKS in a fine dining restaurant lol. Making music is literally my side hustle - but if I want a $1500 guitar I’m planning that purchase for like a year. Hell, and if I wanted to own a house in Massachusetts I better go to sleep cause that’s only happening in my dreams lol

it’s not that wild, people with money spend it on stuff, just depends what your preferences are which stuff that is. I can’t afford upscale dining myself, but if I could i would think it was worth it once in a blue moon when my job paid me a bonus or something
