Law of averages is a thing. Yes it’s very likely every team will have to deal with some injuries, it’s very likely every good player will put up a stinker that makes you say “wtf”… either extreme is very very unlucky though, either having more than 3 starters miss significant time or having 1 or 0 long term injuries to starters. Does it happen, yes. At least one team in the league tends to just get screwed even though they made good decisions. but over a broad sample size it balances out and usually teams have a couple big injuries and a couple shockingly bad games from their studs but not an insurmountable number of them

 

Gotta be a real ballknower to know that Tylan Wallace is going for 115 yards and a TD in week 10

I will never forget the 2022 season where I led my fantasy league in points scored for a significant portion of the season, yet had a losing or .500 at best record throughout the entirety of it because everyone kept putting up their best weeks against me. Then I lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Didn’t matter how much “skill” was involved, how good my draft was, how many roster moves I made, whatever. Came down to sheer dumb luck and sometimes that’s just how the cookie crumbles.

 

My wife is now obsessed with the pokemon card game. She missed her bus stop last night cause of it lol

 

She probably wouldn't want me to because she's rather not share how good she is with you and would rather just talk shit about your fantasy skills outside of the thread

Same with the other team scoring 140 when you scored 130. It happens, yes. Occasionally someone gets very unlucky and it happens multiple times in a season. That doesn’t mean it’s the norm

I put a bunch of time into drafting for my friends work team and the person who won took Russell Wilson 1st overall. This was in like 2018 or 19 but still!

 

And I’m still saying the playoffs are mostly luck which IS what matters for winning money

but I don’t at all think that means you can’t be good at fantasy football and it’s ONLY luck, it’s not black and white like that. Winning the whole thing requires luck but winning most your games in most leagues you join is more skill

Again, it’s stunning when you realize that it truly does not matter how much time you put into fantasy football or how much you know about the rosters and the sport. It matters how often you play the dogshit teams in the league because those people quit already
