Also I-68 in Maryland is terrifying haha I’m not driving down that in winter again. Lord help me if I hit black ice down an 8% grade with sharp curves downhill on a highway. It was kinda shocking to me how there’s seemingly “layers” of mountains and how far the descent is from Grantsville to Cumberland and then from Cumberland to Hagerstown. The Allegheny mountains in western Maryland is also an extremely snowy region compared to the rest of the east coast. Nope nope nope. Gonna route my tour to upstate New York and then back down if necessary to avoid those mountains in winter lol, would much rather be stranded somewhere flat in a blizzard where I can still drive if necessary

 

@dylan do you / have you used snow chains in Colorado or are snow tires usually enough? I know y’all gotta have some scary mountain highways that get real snowy / icy on routes that lots of people commute
