No they should not. Clemson lost 3 games and beat their first ranked team tonight. Why in the hell are we all of a sudden discounting Boise for a team that was ranked 7 spots behind them?

 

I'm not all of a sudden criticizing Boise. I'm continuing to. They aren't as good

I’m going to open this by saying that even as a Bama fan, I think SMU should be in. However, the thing that is frustrating to see is so many teams getting in without wins over good teams (Penn St, Indiana, Texas, SMU). I think this is just a product of the large conferences and strategic scheduling, but hope in the future these are more evenly scheduled so we are not getting so many teams that just beat up on lesser teams, failed to win big ones, and still find a way in. (And before anyone else says it, yes if Bama would have done that against Vandy & OU, they’d be in).

 

To be fair it’s not our fault Michigan and Oklahoma fucking suck and our opponents rankings are absolutely influenced by us beating them. We have proof that TAMU is ranked outside of us beating them. We have absolutely been overranked as a team but it feels incredibly lazy to hype up the SEC and be like “Texas could never handle it” and then when we beat all our opponents outside of Georgia be like “well actually they didn’t play anyone”, I’d like for people to pick one even if it is the latter because maybe the SEC really does suck outside of a couple teams

 

if bama gets in this year they might ad well make it official and just give them an automatic bid. they weren’t good this year.

 

Fwiw I’m fine with however much we fall in the CFP rankings as long as we still do make it which we should. Just more responding to the discourse than anything that’s actually going to happen

 

You’re right that I shouldn’t have included Texas as I honestly forgot about A&M and that is a good win.

 

And also, Texas’s “weak” strength of schedule is still better than Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, SMU, Boise, Notre Dame, Arizona State, and Clemson last I saw. Which is 75% of the playoff field.

If I was the committee, I wouldn't even make this about Bama vs SMU. Get Indiana the fuck out of here. Biggest frauds around.

Ultimately, if slob-shirt knew how to fire up this team and game plan for the road, we wouldn't have to deal with this crap.

 

SMU fell below Alabama in the AP Poll. The fix is in. Gonna lead to a big discussion about conference championship games if this actually happens. Like what’s the point if you’re just going to risk your spot for minor benefit?

 

The AP and the CFP haven’t seen eye to eye on quite a few teams, but no one would be surprised.

 

Yea that's the problem when you have these large conferences, no divisions, and no rhyme or reason to having similar schedules.
