Great showing so far for the AL East this playoff series. Hopefully Baltimore follows suit next round.

Taylor Walls especially shouldn’t be the everyday shortstop on opening day next year. Don’t care how good his glove can be, you either let Junior do it with Walls as backup or let Junior backup a veteran that you acquire.

And that gets to the point that the Rays have seemingly secured a long term future in the Tampa Bay Area, so you should be willing to do some atypical Rays things. Give up some good prospects to make a move for someone you trust more to take ABs in the postseason.

There are a handful of untouchables in the farm (C. Williams, X. Isaac, K. Misner and just about any MLB ready pitching prospect) and some safe newly called up players (Mead and Aranda), but I would say it’s clear after two straight WC sweeps that they need to be doing less prospect hugging and inject some more money into the roster now while you are in the best window you’ve had as a franchise.

And make sure you have more guys prepared for situational hitting. If you’re going to bunt in the postseason, maybe do more of it in meaningful games during the regular season.

And know that sometimes it’s ok to just let Josh Lowe start against the lefty if he’s been your most clutch hitter all season.

The 13 position players I’d want as locks and their roles would be:

1. Yandy - 1B/DH
2. Isaac - utility infielder
3. Randy - LF
4. B Lowe - 2B
5. J Lowe - RF
6. Raley - all outfield positions
7. Siri - CF
8. Mead - 3B
9. Pinto - C
10. Ramirez - DH
11. Junior - SS/or backing up proven vet
12. add vet as a 4th outfielder
13. add vet to start above Junior or as quality infield depth

Of course the biggest problem of all for 2 straight years is health. I know they try controlling innings to mitigate injury, but they have to have some better luck with health.
