Never would have thought an orioles series in September would be the most important and frustrating series at the start of the season

 

Rays win? a one run game against the orioles? The masters of the one run win?

what a stress fest and incredibly favorable to orioles in the fox broadcast booth to make it even more excruciating

 

Heck of a game. O's offense is not doing themselves any favors the last few games, but the Rays bullpen is so filthy. Gonna be a fun weekend.

 

It’s too soon for playoff intensity baseball I thought I had more time to passively roll with the ebbs and flows

 

I'm trying to enjoy it right now since it's not something I'm used to haha. Also trying not to panic with a 1 game lead and the next 6 games against the Rays and Astros...

I actually heard this over the summer when I was at Fenway. There were multiple instances of deals he could have/should have made but didn’t.

General feeling was he was indecisive and people in the organization questioned his leadership because of it. They think he is a very good baseball person but not someone who should be in charge of baseball ops.

Take that for what it’s worth.

 

interesting…idk it just strikes me as odd that there was a chance to get out from under this contract completely and ownership didn’t push hard for it.

 

calling mlb office to ask if both the dodgers and mariners can get a win for all three games

 

I’m under the impression that ownership stays out of the day to day operations and only get involved if the team is looking to add payroll, needs them to help with FA negotiations/contract extensions or if there’s a direct order (i.e. cut payroll).

Ownership was upset that the Sox didn’t get under the luxury tax at the 2022 trade deadline when they had guys like J.D Martinez and Evoldi that easily could have been dealt. Not getting under the luxury tax is probably why Bloom signed Corey Kluber instead of a higher end pitcher or brought in a better SS stopgap for Story.
