Why do we still have 8 divisions in the year 2023? No one wants to watch JAX/IND/HOU or TB/ATL/NO play home playoff games

it’d be so easy to better balance the schedule and just have each team play the other 15 teams in the conference once plus a couple crossover games and ditch the doubling up of division opponents. and even better if they dissolve the AFC and NFC and make the conferences better geographically aligned while they’re at it

One thing I do like about the current setup is it does encourage a lot of parity with how teams are matched up with their counterparts from other divisions. I’m sure they could find a way to continue that with a different set up but it’s definitely one thing the NFL does better than any other sports league.

 

Maybe Cam will be the one to save us from this horrible coaching. They designated him to return from IR and are optimistic he can play this week.

I am not absolving Trevor from playing poorly (while banged up) the last month but I absolutely believe it is the result of a bad scheme and bad coaching.

 

missed the game yesterday and rewatching, bryce did have moments of looking great. i’ll believe it a bit more when he can string it together for a few starts in a row and not throw 3 picks next week but it’s the most promising he’s looked all season.

 

I agree that it has a lot more to do with teams figuring out our playcalling than anything else.

but I will admit Little hasn’t played better than Cam like I thought he would

I just still don’t think Cam’s good enough. He’s a well above average run blocker, he definitely had something to do with Etienne having more success between the tackles, so I’m not dismissing that he did have an impact. But he still just gets burned by pass rushers who have the agility and footwork that he doesn’t have.

 

I think we need the improved run game over the better pass blocking right now. They can not run the ball to save their lives with this current line and I believe that is a huge part of their issues. The offense still didn’t look great when Cam was in there but they were at least winning games.

 

I can agree with that on some levels, I just wish we were at least trying harder to run it. If you run it 23 times and can’t succeed that’s execution, if you ran it 14 times (and only like 7-8 before you fell behind) that brings gameflow into question.

I think Press gets scared out of running the ball when 1 or 2 runs gets stuffed, and now teams are calling his bluff and realizing he sucks at keeping the passing game going / won’t stay committed to run/pass balance if you can stop the run for like 2-3 series. Tampa Bay defense was ATTACKING the hell out of us and we couldn’t do Jack shit about it, it was like the 49ers game.

Yeah, our run blocking is 1000000000% worse than the pass blocking.

Dawg ratings on a Tuesday got me feelin' weird. Idk if it's because I'm doing this at home and not at work or the fact there were 3 Monday games yesterday. Regardless, I will do better. I will get better. I will overcome this adversity next week.
