I don’t agree they’ve had better players than Zion haha. Anthony Davis was very good but he’s better as a supporting player than as the team’s leading scorer

 

AD is 1000000 better than Zion

 

Zion’s efficiency close to the rim is untouched by anyone else in the league, he’s legitimately on another level when it comes to close range, contested scoring.

Yeah they're saying the volume is absurd, not the efficiency

 

Also he has the 2nd highest FG% of any player averaging at least 15 points per game (behind Giannis)

A high volume of dunks and layups also matters because it’s showing that teams are having an impossible time trying to stop him from doing it even though every team already knows that’s how he’s gonna attack

 

He's not top ten in efficiency so as long as you're saying all those other guys are very very efficient too then sure but he's not doing anything crazy with his efficiency

 

This isn’t a knock on him though that’s a benefit. He’s one of 3 guys being used as the lead on their team that is converting that many scoring attempts

Efficiency gets higher closer to the rim. Other players with higher efficiency numbers overall also benefit from easier shots

Yeah but you’re dismissing the volume like that doesn’t say something impressive in itself. He’s getting to the rim a lot easier than even other superstar players. You’re telling me it’s not impressive he’s able to attack the rim CONSIDERABLY more than anybody else? if everyone else could do that then they would. But at that point, when we’re talking about the difference between Giannis at 66% and Zion at 80%… it’s not “easier shots” we’re talking about, we’re talking about him converting at a very high rate even when there’s traffic all over him and most guys would back down or step back
