going from a mediocre QB on a monster contract to a better mediocre QB on a monster contract would not be ideal

also, Maye >> Penix as a prospect; def take Maye, there’s probably more of an argument for taking someone else with a high 1 if Penix (or McCarthy) is best QB on the board

 

they can get out of the Jones deal in 2025. swapping the contracts is an interesting theory. I think you can package some of the pics you already have with the 2nd rounder from the Williams trade and maybe a 2025 1st if need be. You also....COULD...include saquon, if you're not gonna sign him, but i doubt they'd trade him.

I just think with how bad the contract is for AZ and how badly theyre gonna wanna draft Caleb, the Cardinals almost have no leverage. They're gonna wanna move him, and theyre gonna need to take the best offer.

 

I think Tua was the MVP going into yesterday, but he pooped himself at the end there which will resonate with voters

i know nothing about the Dolphins yesterday looked impressive at all, but you really can make a case for Hill through 9 weeks.

Lamar is a good point, I honestly always completely forget about him lol

 

Ravens have 4 primetime games in the back half of the schedule, I've already seen some media talking about Lamar but the larger narrative could move to him as those games happen

 

Also Giants should just do what the Texans did and not get "their guy" and end up with the better player anyway

 

Mahomes or Lamar are the midseason MVPs to me

 

Mahomes has had too many stinkies so far for me to say that but, at the end of the season he will be a high vote getter.

 

I unfortunately do worry about voter fatigue for Mahomes

I think it *feels* worse than it is, but he's still way up there in counting stats, team is still winning, lack of a great supporting cast, etc

and KC usually gets better as the season progresses

some people may also bring up the quality of kc's defense but you can and should say the same about the Ravens

I remember hearing a stat a couple weeks ago that Mahomes is picking up more first downs with his legs than he ever has before, which should tell everyone everything they need to know about who is playing well and who is not playing well in that offense

 

Mahomes TD:INT is 17:8 right now and I wouldn't be a little bit surprsied if he ended at like, 40:11 or something

 

looks like ESPN has him at 17 rushing first downs (Pacheco has 30) but no other player has more than 5 on the ground, Mahomes also averaging 6 yards a carry

 

yeah adding on to this and what Dink said, Mahomes had 21, 25, 25 rushing first downs each of the last 3 years

 

Actually, I think AJ Brown is the MVP and anyone who disagrees just doesn’t watch the games

 

yeah, in that example, it’s mainly that I don’t think firing Dungy at any point would have gotten the Colts closer to winning more rings.

less of a “let’s be complacent with only regular season success” thing and more that not hyper focusing on just the playoffs puts into better perspective that the question is more “what can we tweak to get our already good team over the hump”, which require more of coordinator/personnel level moves than completely starting over with a new coach and scheme or labeling Josh Allen a bust because he doesn’t have a ring or whatever
