I will never forget when someone on this site posted about their negative experiences every time they met Ryan throughout the years and Ryan actually posted to apologize and defend himself and the poster was like “Thanks, I don’t forgive you though” and he and other posters kept talking about it. It was so cringe. Dude is so soft

I don’t think it’s a bad thing that Ryan apologized but I do think it’s bad if he kept posting in there after that lol

If he was just like “you don’t have to forgive me, I learned something today, I’ll be more conscious of that in the future” and log off I’d respect that

 

if i am remembering the poster correctly, it was absolutely not out of their character to continue pressing the matter once he replied but also was weird for Ryan & other's to continue engaging the subject afterwards lol

just an all around odd situation

Yeah this new song is very whatever. Ryan Key’s lyrics have not improved much over the years. Decent drums and violin slapped on top of a very mediocre core song haha

For better or worse though tbh because I do respect someone who's willing to just be like "yeah that's cool I don't forgive you but I'm glad you're sorry, do better going forward"

 

I also think the same thing of new Thrice too, I’m sorry everyone who enjoys it haha. For me they had a peak and then TBEITBN is a dad-rock caricature of their old metalcore sound with only 2-3 songs on it that actually hit me in that magic / nostalgic way, and while I like Dustin’s lyrical topics, the execution isn’t as good as it used to be

 

Thrice was never metalcore and both To Be Everywhere and Horizons/East slap

 

Whatever you call that IOS / TAITA sound then haha

I said metalcore because it’s a little more “chugging palm muted guitars rapidly” than most post hardcore

 

Yeah they were a post-hardcore band that incorporated some metal influences to their sound because they fuck with metal. God bless ‘em

 

I love Vheissu and Alchemy Index the most, the older stuff is decent for nostalgia, and the only album after Alchemy I really liked was Beggars

 

I suppose I enjoy “experimenting” Thrice more than “straight post hardcore” Thrice

 

I get that. I will say their run from TAITA through Beggars was their peak, but I do still love some of their recent material. Of course, it’s significantly less experimental than Vheissu and TAI, even Beggars, which is why I understand if people don’t like their newer stuff

 

With that said, I think Horizons/East is their most ~experimental~ album since Beggars and is not a far cry from that album at all

 

I'd be so sad if someone from Gaslight was checking into that thread. I really don't need them vanishing again because of dorks on the internet.
