Christmas in August hearing the news of Arte looking into selling the team.

Alright, thought about it some more...

Just an unreal day today… woke up to the news of the interest in selling the team and then hopped on a bus to the DMZ.

So many emotions over the news. Excitement, fright, worriedness… never thought I’d see the day happen. Pretty much hand in hand with being up at the 38th parallel.

I’ve met Arte on a couple of occasions… opening day of ST in 2009 when I was (for whatever reason) asked to be a ball boy, again a couple of years later at ST with my wife, and then just last summer when I ran into him in NYC. By all accounts super friendly and easy to come up to/talk with. Perhaps he was just in love with the thought of owning a team but not actually providing the necessary tools to allow it to be successful (besides just trying to play fantasy baseball owner and [attempting to] sign the biggest FA at the time). No fault of his own in my eyes. The dude lived a dream that barely any of us alive will ever fulfill. Good for him. But, clearly, the last decade has proven that perhaps he was in over his head and rightfully has admitted that it’s likely the right time to move on. I’ll give him that, instead of giving the fans another decade+ of playoff-less baseball in Anaheim.

I’d say good luck in his future endeavors, but with that expected 2-3 BILLION ROI I’m not sure there’s anything else to say except enjoying retirement because there’s not a single reason left to do a lick of work after this.
