Oh I know but like I’ve said before at the least I want to spread it around and not let one guy have a hand in EVERYTHING

But yes of course this. It’s not like Shad Khan is any better, he’s just less powerful and has less influence on the economy / business collusion between service providers, real estate brokers, supply chain / logistics, and broadcasting deals than Bezos does… so he represents less of a threat than Bezos that way

  6. Again, Burns is only 24 years old. He’s awesome. Hasn’t even peaked yet. He wants to be here. Why would we trade him? Those picks sound nice but none are guarantees.

I would trade him for two firsts and a second lol

    Great player though!

What the fuck the Panthers are obviously in need of rebuilding, they ten thousand percent should’ve ran away with that trade

Burns has potential but like you can literally find that same potential with ONE of those draft picks. He hasn’t been THAT good yet. I’d trade Josh Allen for that and Allen > Burns, both statistically and eye-test wise (and was a better college prospect to begin with)

likewise, Allen’s gonna have to step it up the second half of this season for me to feel comfortable giving him Bradley Chubb money even though he’s better than Chubb too

teams are wild if they reject these multiple high pick trades in favor of overpaying the shit out of a good/promising but not great player. Unless they’re already elite… the chances of them reaching that potential greatness are smaller than the chances of improving your team more with those picks

Two 1sts and a 2nd that come 2-3 years from now...meanwhile he's winning DPOY on that Rams team.

Not that I think the Panthers will be competitive in 2023 or really even 2024, but, hard to give up an elite young player under basically any circumstance when you have the cap space

Deals are only good if you get to enjoy the return. No chance their GM survives to use all of those pics lol

If I’m the owner though I’m saying “take that trade cause it will be another knock against your regime if you don’t”

That said it’s not like owners are patient. In theory I’d want my coach and GM to be thinking about long term success even if there’s no guarantee they’re the guy who will see it through, i would still want that mentality out of the dude I hire

  14. If they would’ve taken the deal I wouldn’t have been mad. It’s obviously a great return. I just don’t like the idea of rebuilding that side of the ball, and doing a good job of it, and then bailing on the best player in the bunch for picks 2-3 years away.

Eh, if Im the owner I still care about ticket sales and my locker room. Look at Brandin Cooks, who happily stayed a Texan last year despite all the nonsense, but after another coaching change and more losses, wanted the hell out of there. Now imagine DJ Moore and Shaq Thompson and Moton...you gotta go to those guys in the offseason and ask them to restructure to help out the team and if they're staring back at you wondering what that money is doing to help the team...

Also, what are the odds Fitterer even survives to pick the next HC?

  17. If the picks were all this draft and the next I think they would’ve done it.

  18. To me, the only hope we have is nailing the QB pick this year. If we do that, we’re perfectly fine. If we don’t, we’re screwed with or without Burns. So while it’s risky, I’d rather roll with Burns and hope we hit on QB this year.

    Fair, but

    1) trading Burns might literally give you the money you need to not restructure anyone else

    2) still with the cost benefit analysis I think two firsts and a second weighs more for me. This would be a good reason not to trade Burns for one first but at some point a lucrative offer is a lucrative offer

I’m most confused by why the Rams think trading for Burns would have saved their season. Is he doubling as an offensive lineman as well?

Classic rule of thumb, if a team is desperate to trade for one of your non QB studs, don’t outright reject it… see how damn much you can get them to pay lol

Right, but you play out the rest of this season and all of 2023 without him and with no hope of replacing his potential production. At which point as a GM, your teams probably haven't won more than 5 games in 3 straight seasons and a new GM gets those picks. As an owner, you are staring down an empty stadium, and a first year HC the fan base already hates. Or more realistically, a job nobody wants because they know the GM is fucked...so they can only hire a David Culley type coach.

The Panthers dont need to restructure anyone to be fine in cap space, but, its a cleaner move with Moore/Moton cause they can free up like $30mil, but at some point those guys wonder why they'd want to stikc around

  23. Moton and Shaq are guys we can trade to free up space and will be much easier to replace.

And are easier to trade if they arent demanding that trade, of course.

Team is well set up to with extra picks in the 2023 draft, replaced the pick you used on Corral, etc. Just no value in getting rid of a cornerstone at that moment (and you can probably trade Burns for a similar package next year if he doesnt want to stay)

Depends on the stability of the franchise I guess. I keep thinking about how Herschel Walker was seen as a Derrick Henry esque RB prospect in a much, much more runningback dependent league in 1989 and wasn’t gonna go cheap, but the Cowboys were 1-15 and traded him for a king’s ransom.

without that trade Jimmy Johnson probably doesn’t build the Cowboys to an ELITE roster by 1992 and win superbowls in 93, 94, and 96… they wouldn’t have had the star power / SEVERAL hall of fame players that they needed to beat the 49ers for example. Shit, maybe the Bills win that 1993 Super Bowl in that case. And they still replaced Herschel with a guy who became the NFL’s all time rushing leader anyway.

But morale wise it only worked cause Johnson had just arrived and was a very popular and successful college coach at Miami… he wasn’t a bad coach on his way out just for the team to hire another bad coach. And Dallas isn’t a small market that quits on their team when they’re bad either. So you may have a strong point when it comes to the Panthers
