  1. I feel like this will happen as long as something passes for paid unlimited sick time for employees.

amazon is letting their employees stay home if they "dont feel good" no questions asked no proof no nothing. and anyone who works for amazon that has it will get 2 weeks paid leave. and they are setting up a 25 million fund for it. all the people in their higher up rolls are being told to work from home

how do people who work paycheck to paycheck survive in this scenario though?

  4. for sure Apple is doing the same thing and hopefully more companies will - I know Olive Garden and Noodles and Company are expanding paid sick time to all employees as well.

Agreed. And we’re so far behind in our testing (state of Michigan has 125 people in hospitals being monitored for the virus but the state only has 300 tests so they have to give them out case by case which puts people in real danger), that the reported cases are just what we know about. 100% the numbers are higher.

hell, I don’t have insurance and am currently sick with a bronchial infection and I can’t get on her insurance unless we’re married so we’re considering going to a courthouse so a hospital stay doesn’t bankrupt me. When people have to make these types of decisions, kids shouldn’t be forced to play in the ncaa tourney.

im sure everyone is working on worst case scenario situations so they can help everyone the best they can

  9. I mean no one said it was an easy solution - if it was easy it'd be done already haha

Government is stepping in (what was announced tonight is not enough) but the small business administration can give out allegedly low interest loans to small businesses to cover lost revenue during the pandemic.

Also I want to 100% apologize for coming across like a dickhead, @domotime2. I’m sick and I feel that my frustration with this cough I have is seeping into my posts.

Don’t remember the exact numbers but the SBA is getting money for loans, tax deferments for some people/companies, will do “unprecedented” things for pay so people don’t work when sick, and called on Congress to pass a payroll tax relief

theres no way to know how bad it actually is here in the states with tests being in limited supply so it could in reality be Italy bad

  16. Plus most hospitals won’t test you unless you are showing the signs big time

Dickhead? Nah, hah actually the responses have been quite calm, which is appreciated.

It just feels like a slippery slope here of what is deemed important and not and i dont think we've reached a point where we need to shake the fabric our society/econonmy yet for this disease. Closing schools, cancelling events, there's certainly big time economic circumstances for things like this.

It just seems like we should clearly just be doing what South Korea is doing. Or at the very least, get tested before considering making contact with someone who can die from the disease.

If it's possible I'd say give it 2 weeks. There needs to be a bit of a wait and see moment and I think all parties will be appeased if you go with that.

Or fuck it and do empty arenas and be vigilant
