Exactly lmao. But the cool thing about it is if you have really smart DBs cover 3 can be nearly impenetrable. Can’t say that for cover 2, a scheme that totally hangs your safeties out to dry to the point where even if they are elite, a great QB / OC can put them in situations where they have to make a decision and leave somebody open either way.

It only takes a little bit of high level ad libbing to make cover 3 seem like it has no weaknesses - such as the corners knowing when they don’t have to get deep and can go for underneath routes / tackles, or knowing when they don’t have a sideline fade or comeback route to cover they can cheat inside and help the free safety bracket seam and post routes.

Richard Sherman having incredibly high awareness and ability to read keys, to the point where he knew when to improv and when to stay disciplined… plus Earl Thomas being able to read quarterbacks so well and cover SO much ground in the deep middle… is why LOB was such an elite defense even though they called variations of cover 3 predictably often
