another arbitrary distinction to that point is that actively bad seasons are the ones where you get frustrated with your team winning because it messes up their draft pick

 

oh I would tune in each week regardless because I am a sucker for punishment lol

its not that I'm pissed off and I understand that the Jaguars are pathetic as well. And I do understand that being "in the hunt" and eventually breaking through and winning a game or two in the playoffs would be a great payoff...but imagine just being perpetually in the hunt, you get your hopes up, only for it to crash down in December. Every fucking year lol

 

Replace December with September and you're a Jags fan

By some of these definitions I can argue the Patriots are a sad franchise since the majority of their history is pathetically embarrassing to the point of almost being moved over a Michael Jackson concert.

That’s why I think limiting our sadness barometer to our lifetime is fair and as such, I remove the 70’s-80’s from the Dolphins resume.

 

I guess "sad" is arbitrary because I'm much more sad when the Eagles get to the playoffs and lose than when they go 4-12. When they're putrid I get angry lol

 

But you'd be ignoring 20 years of history so nah, you can't really make that argument haha

Texans are pretty sad. Imagine historically sucking but finally having a top qb and the best wr in the nfl and watching the wr get traded for nothing and the team sucking before they can hit their potential. So the only hope is that great young qb but the qb turns out to be a serial sexual predator and now the team is back to sucking with no hope.

Also gotta keep in mind a lot of Houston football fans were Oilers fans and had to watch their team move, become their div rival, and appear in a Super Bowl (a la Cleveland/Baltimore except Ravens actually won theirs), and they didn't get to keep any of the Oilers history with them.

It's gonna be Flores, O'Connell or McCown

seems like Gannon out of the mix

 

They’re like the AFC Falcons at this point. Sure they’ve had good seasons, but when you include the context they should be in the sadness conversation

 

Being teamless also lost a lot of those Oilers fans to the Cowboys, or they became Titans fans

thus my hatred

 

Just a few years ago Deshaun Watson led a comeback against Josh Allen's Bills in the playoffs

seems like a lifetime ago
