I'm not sold on Hurts as the future either, but I'd rather roll with him in 2022 and address other areas of concern on the team than sell the farm for, like, Russell Wilson who has been stinking up the joint for much of the last two seasons

 

tbh doug is arguably the best coach available but still cant forget how fast he lost that eagles team after he threw that game

take another weapon with one of your firsts and beef up on D with the others

 

I don't think he lost the Eagles team at all. Maybe he lost Wentz after benching him since he played like doo doo, but Doug purposefully got himself fired because he was tired of Howie and Lurie bossing him around and telling him how to run the team.

Yeah they probably will, I definitely do not want a massive contract QB by trading 12 draft picks. With Hurts though the ceiling is pretty damn low. He can't throw the ball, that's bad when it's your most important job lol.

Maybe he can improve his pocket play and passing during the offseason? I doubt it.

From what I've heard from Eagles media, it does seem like Doug wanted out after 2020. I mean, the coaching staff he pitched to Lurie in their season-after meeting was a joke. Credit to Doug for sticking by his guys, I guess, even though it meant him getting fired. Again, I just know from what I've heard from Eagles media that Doug was tired of being constantly micromanaged, which is why he didn't try to put together alternative coaching plans to keep his job.

As for the week 17 game, I'm almost certain that was Howie's decision for draft positioning. I mean, there was absolutely zero need to watch Sudfeld after Doug and the Eagles' coaching staff had worked with him for a few years at that point. Doug had nothing to gain from benching Hurts for Sudfeld, but Howie sure did.

 

I mean, I wouldn't go as far as to say he can't throw the ball. He's had some nice plays as a passer here and there. I agree that he leaves a bit to be desired. He needs to make quicker decisions and could stand to target the middle of the field more (same issues with Russ, whom Howie desperately wanted and maybe still wants). But I think he's improved a lot as the season has gone along and has certainly earned himself at least one more season as the starter.

 

Daboll was an OC in Miami back in the day and also coached Tua at Bama...makes sense

 

He has among the lowest passing numbers compared to all the other QBs who played most of the season without injury, you know?? I love the guy and how he carries himself but he just ain't the answer. I guess part of building a team is just being content with a pretty good QB and building elsewhere? I hate that part.

It's fine if they trot him out next year, they will most likely have a similar season as this year.

 

Steelers will take hurts if you don't want him. You can have Rudolph.

I mean, he had just 432 pass attempts on the season. I don’t have the full list in front of me, but I’m gonna guess he’s circling the bottom of the league in less attempts among starting QBs so of course his passing numbers are going to be low.

Haha well that's what you do when you have a QB who's not a good passer! You don't call pass plays and you have the leading rushing offense in the NFL.

 

Yeah he’s like 26th and the guys behind him all lost games to injury.
