Which position likely gets filled first, GM or HC?

It’s always been said it’s gm and then the gm picks the coach but if you can get a really good coach, it’s the other way around. Just don’t have two random guys that don’t get along lol

 

And every HC job at some level involves finding the QB, so having Cousins either as trade bait for your right guy, or as the Jimmy G type stopgap is nice. Obviously the Broncos have none of that.

Only downside the VIkings job is it depends who the new GM is. Spielman hit on quite a few picks and he/Zimmer basically always were .500ish or better. Bodes well that they'll hire another good GM, but, there's uncertainty.

 

if he is brought back, it is solely because the Maras do not want to have fired 3 coaches in 5 years. nothing else will be a deciding factor.

I am never going to agree with you on this lol. The fans aren’t suddenly gonna be happy with Khan if he fires Baalke. A winning season is the only way to silence KhlownOut

 

For Minnesota? I would think GM to develop a long term rebuild plan. For a place like Chicago or Jacksonville (if they fire Baalke)? I think HC since they have young QBs that they desperately need to develop now and I think finding a good HC who can help accelerate that is important

I hope the Vikings just trade Cousins and save $35m in cap so they can rebuild this team. If they want a stop gap QB for a year, they can just sign Teddy or Mariota for cheap. Maybe Mariota pulls a Tannehill. Who the hell knows, but I don’t see any reason to keep Cousins around in 2022 when there are so many QB-needy teams around the league

 

Is there ever a scenario where a HC was hired (not intending to also be the GM), and then they hired a GM and it worked out?

GMs basically come in with a new coach or hire the HC...the times they inherit the HC, most of the time that coach is gone in a year or so unless they magically make the playoffs. So it makes it even worse hiring a new HC before the GM because it just accelerate that firing window (what maybe should have been 3 or 4 years they get, the GM pushes them out after 2 years)

 

@CarpetElf I don’t care what the media says about it. Jags fans are clowning Khan cause they don’t like Khan. You don’t personally know the people who started the movement, and even if you did, they have no bearing on how the rest of the fanbase is going to apply the meme once it’s viral

 

Do you mean if a coach is hired and then he picks his gm in the same offseason? Or do you mean in separate seasons?

 

if Flores was the driving factor in the Watson stuff, then I am glad he is gone.
