Missed our almost comeback bc I had to turn the game off but I see as always this team got 85% of the way there and couldn't finish the job

 

So the Pirates win a series against the Mets, get swept by the D-Backs, and now win a series against the team with the best record in baseball (the Giants) with a chance to sweep tomorrow. Baseball's a funny game sometimes, but I love it.

Carlos Rodón

 

I went to rehab five times this year and there’s nothing to do there but watch ESPN so I’m into sports now

 

I saw a Rodón start in Chicago in I think late 2017 and all I remember is he sucked and Miggy hit a homer off him that landed in the bullpen a few rows in front of us. And that I blew off a practice lsat to go to the game lol

 

Blows my mind seeing how well Gausman is pitching now. He was so mediocre for so long with the O's.

Hardly the first time an Orioles starter has thrived elsewhere haha. Makes me feel slightly better that he went through a couple other organizations before finding it.

eh he was total trash with the braves and reds too post-baltimore, don't think its yalls fault. pretty sure reds picked him up off of waivers. I really think the giants just have some kind of a special sauce this year, so many reclamation project pitchers overperfoming. reminds me of what the cardinals did with carpenter, suppan, weaver, etc. in the 2000s

also worth noting that while you mighta kicked yourself over dylan bundy last year, he's not a part of that trend haha. he has been unplayably bad for the angels this season. only one other pitcher has made as many starts as bundy this year and given up as many HR/9 (mike foltynewicz)

edit: and bundy has literally the worst ERA out of every pitcher who's thrown as many innings as he has this year lol (70.0 IP)

 

True, yeah the Giants have crazy mojo this season. They also have Yastrzemski who is probably more surprising than Gausman. Looked like a 5th or 6th OFer at most with us.

Bundy always had HR issues but this year has been terrible. Last year made it look like he was going to be Arrieta 2.0. The trade looks a little better this year, though I would never wish for the guy's career to go up in flames haha

 

If degrom is back before the game on my birthday against the Phillies (august 6th) I might go if he has a chance to start

 

Just shut him down for the season… a nice long recovery period. This team isn’t making the playoffs even with him back in the lineup this year.
