The mets should call his bluff and say they’ll trade him to the rockies for story lol

 

Frankie bud you're not Betts, even if you're more like who you were a few years back than who you were the last couple of years. Hopefully someone close to him can talk him and his agent down in the next few days

 

Look if you're a Mets fan (think we have one or two of those in here right??) then I think you have to feel good if they really offered him 10/325. It's not the emotional investment you thought you were getting when you traded for Lindor but go give that money to Story or Seager next offseason instead (both of whom *might* be better) and let it ride

 

Maybe. But also for half the season only. I’ve come to peace with it if it means that Stu will spend more money.

But he should sell the team to someone who likes baseball and paying good baseball players.

 

To me, seeing the Mets even involved in a deal with these numbers has me shook. I don’t blame them if they dig their heels in here and refuse to budge. I hope Lindor wises up.

even if that's what he'd prefer to do, that's a pretty massive risk if he's bad this year/gets hurt/CBA negotiations implode immediately next winter. obviously hope none of that happens, but take your money dude. you did good for yourself. rare that I think a player is actually adequately compensated too

 

Yeah, easy to say for me, but I’m not fretting too hard about a difference of 2 years on my contract in order to secure the sort of money 300 combined average workers won’t make in their lifetime.

 

I highly doubt anyone is gonna offer Lindor something comparable to 12 years for $385 million in FA. Hopefully he is just trying to see if the Mets will go any higher and will end up coming to terms with the 10 year offer, pretty wild anyone could turn that down honestly
