wow French Dispatch at #1 from the AV Club nice

 

Apparently that Netflix Western Cumberbatch movie is good? I’ve seen it on a lot of lists

They didn't do one last year but their top twenty is always a great snapshot of the films you need to see.

 

I didn't understand the love for the first "Souvenir" and I really don't get the second.

 

I was mixed on the first one but I haven't seen the second yet.

For all the films that came out on streaming this year, so many of the big movies (Drive My Car, Memoria, Souvenir Part II, and others) are still unavailable.

 

If you believe Weerasethakul, Memoria will never be available for home viewing. I wanted to try to see it in NYC this weekend but I don't know if that's going to work out. Might not be the best idea to go into NYC to see a movie given the whole omicron thing. I appreciate the whole roadshow concept but under the current circumstances that isn't really fair to people who don't want to risk catching a deadly illness to see your movie.

 

Seems like there's a much bigger pool of movies making these EOTY lists compared to a year ago.

 

More stuff was able to come out this year. A lot of stuff that came out this year was supposed to come out last year.

I don't think I've played any games released this year, and the only game I've started since making my previous list is Horizon Zero Dawn.

 

I can't wait until January 1st. I have been keeping up with 3-4 movies a day to catch up and I am starting to feel ill.

 

I have my best picture winner. My top 3 is pretty solidified at this point I think

 

I won't really feel comfortable saying something is the best of the year until I see Drive My Car and Memoria.

 

Drive My Car is certainly up there for me. Beautiful film. I've seen a lot this year now - packed a lot in this month so I am more comfortable with my rankings

 

The Power of the Dog will probably be my number one on my January 1 list, but I need to think more about Days and Undine. Licorice Pizza is tomorrow.

I have off of work next week and I'm stuck inside, so I should be able to knock quite a few movies off my list.

indeed it is, it’s an enormous yikes

 

Don't pay for it, even though the title Music makes it really hard to find on torrent sites. This is going to be used in seminars and classes on what not to do. It is such an affront to good taste and decency.

 

I've seen 74 new releases this year but I still feel like I need to see:

It's surprisingly been a great movie year

 

Bergman Island is so good. Undine too. See them if you can.

 

I think Bergman Island and Drive My Car are the two I still want to see that I have access to.

Licorice Pizza will probably be a 2022 movie for me.
