Would have much rather seen the Pac and Big12 merge together in some way rather than spread the B1G across the country. Taking the best of both would certainly put together a viable conference - still no B1G or SEC, but likely above the ACC.

I feel bad for Northwestern and Vandy and schools like that who will get booted from their conferences in 5-10 years.

Big Ten will only accept schools that are apart of the AAU collective of universities. I believe there is only something like 63 of those schools in the nation. The weird part though is Nebraska used to be a part of the AAU but got kicked out (after joining the Big Ten) but are still in the Big Ten. Not sure if you have to be a member upon joining or how it all works but its pretty much been reported that if you are not an AAU school then the Big Ten won't accept you.

ironically enough I assume all the schools I mentioned in my post would get removed but I’m sure the Big Ten likes having a “presence” on the east coast even though most of the sports programs for Rutgers (in particular) are shit.

And like, to some degree I’m sure the other schools want some easier opponents in the conference. Imagine playing Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State, USC, Wisconsin, Washington, UCLA year after year if you’re Ohio State lol. Some of those matchups used to be exclusive to Rose Bowls or fucking championship games and now they’re just week 5 random ass October night games every year (I know they won’t play every year). Gotta have some cupcakes here or there.

Mock B1G realignment from the CFB reddit. I don’t expect that many to jump from the ACC though. I could be wrong.

Should be called Big Mid because that’s where they are located and all of those teams except for Wisconsin are mid

Gonna be like 3-4 super conferences but the teams are only gonna play each other every 4-5 years (outside of rivalries) because of all the fucking teams in the conference

    The rivalry is back on

Idk I’m leaning towards the landscape in the next 10-15 years being:

-20-24 team Big 10 and SEC, scheduled in pods, most (10ish) games within conference, preserving historic rivalries both within and outside of conference but that’s about it
-those two split from the NCAA and make their own leagues with separate CBAs, etc
-8 team playoff that starts as an NCAA playoff and moves to being 4 team conference playoffs
-they play chicken around it for awhile and then eventually schedule a national championship for the winners of each conference playoff
-it exists like this for awhile and then they re-merge and have a new top league with smaller conferences, promote the best of the smaller division, etc, and start over on having a top league because time is a flat circle

P5 down to G5 and then the FCS national champion moves up to a G5?

How fun would that be?! Get rid of the bowl system and have a playoff system for each P5/G5/FCS etc
