I guess I should have stated “blame FSU for the origin of the chop”. It was something the Braves picked up from them in the early 90s.

 

Surprisingly, no one topped Maris' 61. Most by a player from 1993-2019 was Chris Davis' 59 in 2017. There's been plenty of 50+ HR seasons, but no one, not even from 1998-2001, hit 60 or more.

 

Interesting "what if" view of Harper too

 

Harper, Trout, and Machado were all drafted by the Rangers.

Jeter had a decent career despite being a below average hitter. For a while I was worried he was going to get 3000 hits with an OPS+ below 100. He was a great defender somehow lol
