Yadi is the only player who I’ll go to bat for despite where he is on the war leaderboard. Catching is such a hard position and the value is so much harder to quantify

Defensive catching metrics are mostly very new and very bad. If they come up with a formula that statheads agree is accurate and it shows there's a disparity between Yadis numbers and the eye test then so be it

 

It’s very very rare to be producing insane numbers as a catcher. It’s an incredibly difficult position to play. I think Molina is a Hall of Famer.

 

Also Yadi is going to be a HOFer regardless of whether he should. Most of the BBWAA is pretty old school in their thinking

 

Yadi’s HOF case looks stronger bc he played for one team. Put him on like four different teams and he’s Benito Santiago.
