I don't really get hating Boras. He doesn't let the owners roll over his players and fights for his clients pretty well. Fuck the owners.

I wonder how many people are actually on the side of the players. I know this is a smart thread but you go on FB and you see the "30 million!? Work a day at my job" bullshit like well most people can do your job and it's not entertaining lol

 

I see that on twitter as well in the replies to journalists and players. It feels like an impossible messaging battle to win

 

I think the sports world is weird. The owners have done well convincing fans that the more they pay players, the worse off their franchise will be. If not now, later down the road. And that salary caps are good for the sport.

No where else in life, at least no where I can think of right now, are people truly against others making as much money as they can in an open market, I think. I am sure I could find some examples, but for the most part, I think the general population thinks you should make as much as you can get. But its not that way in sports for players.

 

sports teams have convinced fans to pay for arenas and to have players take cheap deals.

they have even gotten involved in politics which is absurd.

And then a couple of personal stories of my own that I don't want to get into but yeah

 

I had a big book of baseball uniform numbers as it kid. It was the coolest. Stories of how players chose their numbers, bartering with teammates to get a certain number—it was the best.

 

I remember my first time going to dodger stadium as an adult was the best. I also took a picture of this because it was a cool sign to see.

It feels appropriate to post it now.
