The system definitely benefits the organizations, imo, so seeing them complain about FA is weird.

Article makes a lot of good points. MLB needs a better system now that sabermetrics is the law of the land. Why pay for risky-declining veterans when you have indentured servants in your system? The length of control is really what is killing Free Agency. With the knowledge FOs have now, this system isn’t well-equipped to compensate the labor’s productivity.

There’s an anti-capitalism story in here somewhere. Lol

I'm not sure how to bring about change, but I'd kill for a way for young players to get paid what they deserve.

We often talk about "bad" contracts in terms of Pujols, Heyward, etc. — players who are getting more than the value they've provided, or excessive money for decline years of old superstars — but, in my mind, the actual "bad" contracts are young players providing a ton of value but not getting just compensation, whether that be pre-arb players or young players who signed team friendly contracts at a young age.

The 25 Worst Contracts in Baseball

Maybe a higher floor would be a good start. I don't really know.

It’s not like arbitration is doing anything, either. After posting a 5 win season, ranking top 25 of 2016, Jackie Bradley Jr was awarded a $3.6M for 2017. Fangraphs valued that 5 war season at $39.6M.

    Got damn.

Someone needs to explain that "1 WAR is worth 8 million" concept to me. When Trout's contract is up is he really gonna ask for 80 mil a year? Lol

This seems to be a better point. Complaining that the MLB Network being unbiased seems silly. I doubt the players care much, if at all.

10 minutes? Try, like, 1 hour.

And I personally don’t mind length of baseball games, but MOST people do. Going from 3 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours and 20 minutes ain’t going to make a difference.
