  1. If they can sneak into the second WC spot this yr or probably next (which the NL is weak as hell and they might) then that rotation could go on a fucking tear in the postseason tho

but they're an under .500 team this year...and all they really did was trade Roark/Puig for Bauer. Bauer is better, but enough to turn a 78 win team into 90? AND risk a top 5 prospect for that gamble?

The team is not ready for that yet. Their offense is too young. Now if they go out and sign 2 big bats...i'll buy into it, otherwise, it's a little bizarre.

Look at their run differential. They're not a bad team. Trying to get better isn't a bad idea.

but you gotta be realistic in where you are as a team. The reds are going in the right direction. I don't think selling off your 2nd best prospect to go for it for ONE year makes any sense.

do you think if the reds just do this exact same team next year...but Bauer and no Puig, they'll win 88 games?

Trammell has a sub .700 OPS this year at AA. Maybe he gets back on track as a prospect but also understandable how Cincinnati might think they know their player well enough to feel comfortable dealing him for a pitcher who makes their already good staff into an even better one.

  6. they can add over the offseason and they're in the weakest division in baseball

  7. I dunno, I love what the Reds have done the last year or so, incl this week

The odd thing to me is Arizona keeping Robbie Ray especially after deciding to dump Greinke. Yankees offer of Clint and a prospect was plenty fair. Yankees fans should be pissed at Arizona lol

  12. Dbacks fans should be pissed at Arizona too. A half-assed rebuild for them isn't gonna cut it

Came here to talk about AA rebuilding the bullpen in a day without giving up any of the Braves top 10 prospects and instead got distracted by this

Robbie Ray isn't a FA until 2021, so its not that big of a deal, imo. Mostly why I am not upset Tigers didn't move Boyd, yet. If someone wants to help take on a big contract like Greinke, you take that ASAP, but if your low-cost controlled guy's price is too low you keep him.

If Cashman says the market was bad, I trust him. Cashman said he's disappointed he couldn't get more, but his analysis said it wasn't worth it. Yankee fans should take his word for it; he's earned it. The outrage is silly. (Not talking about you guys, obviously.)

Yeah I mean doesn't seem like they'll be very competitive but trading him this offseason is another way they could go too. If they hold him til he's just a rental for a couple months you're not getting much. As for the market, yeah GM's clearly weren't working with Cashman at all.

To be clear I didn't want them to take the Frazier + prospect offer either haha. Think their best bet is getting Severino and Betances, and to a lesser degree Stanton healthy. Even then nothing's guaranteed for Houston. So yeah we'll see.

  18. I think about this too. They're clearly the team to beat, but it's not like making a splash at the deadline guarantees anything (sorry last few years Dodgers fans). Being a contender means just that, you'll contend.

I like this Yankees lineup healthy a lot, and I worry about pitching a lot. I hope the first can get fixed over the next few months, which could help some with the second, but even if it doesn't I don't know what moves were out there at this time. (With the caveat that the FA market had two pitchers I would have wanted to get.)

Yankees are what? Still a top 3 team in the league based on winning % and up 7.5 games? Something like that? I mean, it's hard to think it's apocalyptic, and, if I'm just thinking rationally: they probably ain't winning it all this year. It's baseball and stuff happens.

They really need to call Clint up now though. He deserves to be in the lineup with Sanchez and now Voit out.

lololol. No way the Braves would add a Greinke sized contract. And I’m totally fine with that. Really wanted them to acquire Stroman at the deadline, but the Mets decided to fuck everyone up.

The main problem has been length. I think everyone has been a bit worn out cause the starters are out so early. As long as they hold on to the division they're still built great for the playoffs. Hopefully they win the division by enough that they have a week to get everybody gets rested up. As bad as the pitching was for a week (literally franchise worst ever for a week) their East lead is the same as at the beginning of July.

There's clearly at bats for Clint. It's almost silly he's still down. He was leading the majors in OPS with RISP. Yankees can't use that?

  22. Yeah, Edwin's gonna have to play first a lot more now, so that DH spot should absolutely be Clint right now with no Stanton imo.

Exactly. The sky hasn't fallen. Yet. We'll see what this weekend series looks like. If it goes as bad as the last one, that'll be my "time to worry" moment.

  24. It's the one thing that has made getting way back into baseball annoying. Hah, that part ... not fun at all. I try and use mute filters on Twitter to avoid it, but that's been the least fun part by far.
