GLEYBER TORRES! Torres did something in this game that’s pretty much impossible. He led off the 14th inning by striking out – and still scored the winning run. Huh? Yep. It was part of the first four-strikeout 14th inning (or later) in baseball history. But that’s not even the part worthy of commemoration in the Strange But True Hall of Fame! Thanks to a wild pitch on his whiff, a stolen base and Mike Ford’s RBI single, this became the first extra-inning ever (i.e., 10th through 1,000th) in which a team struck out four times – and still scored. Don’t try that game-winning strategy on your MLB The Show any time soon!

Mike Minor is pretty good. There was a time when I thought him, Beachy, and Medlen were gonna anchor the Braves rotation for years.

Curious about walk off homers today, so I looked it up.

All time leader with 13 is Jim Thome. A couple people have 12, one being Pujols. Ryan Zimmerman has 11!

A-Rod had 3 walk off grand slams, tied most all time with Vern Stephens, who we all know, of course. Lindy McDaniel gave up 4 walk off grand slams in his career... not something I'd brag about. He had a fine career otherwise. Roy Face gave up 16 walk off homers in his career, none of them being walk off grand slams!

 

I was thinking Robin Ventura was the all time record holder in grand slams bc he hit a ton. But holy fuck, Arod hit 25.

 

Ventura's walk off grand slam single always confused me. Let the dude round the bases!

I am seriously in awe how this man not only still has a job but is allowed to continue to pitch meaningful innings. It baffles me. His ERA is 9.72. And he’s still in a closing role.
