I totally forgot about him. I can't wait to see that but right when he was drafted they were saying positive things about him.

Yes, very fair for the NL MVP to get barely over a million dollars next year

It's about historical contracts not necessarily fairness imo

Wish Gallo was on the same path as Bryant. Remember a couple years ago when they went toe to toe for HR champ?!

What would you have considered "fair"?

I mean, a fair deal would probably be like $10 million

I'm not saying the Cubs did anything wrong, the CBA encourages teams to underpay young players. It's just insane to me that there is a system in place that allows a reigning MVP to get paid that amount of money, especially in a non-capped league.

He's lucky the Cubs went over $1M honestly. He'll make up for in Arb and FA if and when they come.

Big reason for it is that typically players can't take much of a pay cut iirc so there's a big incentive if he pulls a J Hey.

I forgot who it was a couple years ago but the team announced they weren't giving one of the top players anything over the minimum before arbitration because hey knew they'd pay a lot once he entered that period. So the fact they are actually paying him over a million is a big deal. Mike Trout never made that much pre arb.

Actually be made $1M in his final pre-arb year. But that was replaced by his current 6-year deal

I still can't believe that Savannah named their minor league team the Savannah Bananas.

I guess minus the guys who sign extensions that take out a couple free agent years but for a one year deal pre arb it's unheard of.

For sure, typically it's in the teams hands and while the players do get slight raises from year to year it's very rare for something like this.

Also regarding your first post I think it was Matt Harvey after his outstanding year he got hit with like a $5K raise over the minimum or something like that.

People think I exaggerate when I say I have really bad luck. Almost every game as a kid I would want a hotdog and everytime I choked on it and my dad had to make me cough it up. I got hit in the face once by a broken bat which ended up being fine with me bc we got to go to a few games for free.

all I've ever wanted in life was to catch a baseball at the Fresno grizzlies games.

It still hasn't happened and I'm still bitter about it.

The Yankees made Clint Frazier shave his head. You don't deserve him NY you heartless bastards!!

Came in to say this but the Yankees had been fine with it all spring. It was the media fucking always bringing it up and making a big deal about it. Frazier said not long ago that he was gonna cut it cause he was sick of people asking about it. So fucking dumb.

That being said, I kind of enjoy how bent out of shape people get over the Yankees policy in general. I've had people in the last few days say that you'll play better if you can be yourself and that it breeds confidence. Like these guys are so insecure that if they're missing some hair their ego will just fall to pieces lol.

It's dumb to think that players will play better if they do or don't have beards or long hair. I respect that the Yankees have the long-standing policy and it's their right to run it that way. On a personal level, I think it's a dumb rule rooted in a dated way of thinking haha.

But also I understand it because as excited for Frazier as I am and as awesome as his hair is, it would've been a distraction even if the team rule didn't exist. Like he's still going to start the season at AAA and his hair is the star of spring training at times, and it did feel a little ridiculous lol. To me it doesn't matter at all what anyone has hair related. It literally shouldn't matter to anyone except every active member of the roster. And as far as I know the rule has cost the Yankees what, Brian Wilson? Big deal lol. Jason Giambi and Johnny Damon, two of the dirtiest looking players ever cleaned up to play for them. It's just a reason for people to hate on the Yankees. I don't know why people care so much about what the players can or can't do with their faces.

I think we are actually saying the same thing. I may just not have expanded enough in my initial post or worded it correctly. Given the rule and the buzz relative to Frazier's hair, it was definitely wise to cut it now. No doubt about it. As a young player that may get called up, you want to fit in rather than stand out. I agree with you that making the rule into some big story is dumb too. We know they have it. Move on. As you mentioned, it doesn't really matter to the players that much. They would rather play for the Bronx Bombers than not. However, in my own personal vacuum and if I could have things my way, that rule would not be there. Like if Robin Williams (RIP) from Aladin granted me some wishes in each sport, that may be one I tackle depending on the stipulations to the wishes. But, I live in reality and understand that rule is there. I would rather take the millions in a contract offer and adhere to org rules than be stubborn like Brian Wilson haha if that makes sense.
