Yeah, there's something to be said about the current roster construction and moves made over the years. He's forever a legend for bringing a WS, of course, and he's been handcuffed by the ownership insofar as new spending goes, but he and the front office bear the blame for the moves that got us into this place where the bullpen is so bad and minor league pitching depth seems barren. There's some names, like Adbert Alzolay, but for the most part there's not a lot happening with minor league pitcher development. And that made sense during the rebuild when they were aggressive on great college hitters like Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, but the rebuild has been over for years now and there's been no real movement with developing pitchers.

And there's some questions about the front office misreading the trade values of players like Ian Happ. It's all in hindsight, of course, but there's definitely some relatively justifiable fodder for those who are disenchanted or at least presently displeased with Theo.

For the most part, I blame the ownership for not opening the pursestrings and being aggressive during this era of contention which is also the best era of Cubs baseball ever

I feel like if the owners let Theo run loose, the Cubs would be perform a whole lot better, IMO. He has the track record for it, at least.

  19. I, for one, hope the Cubs ownership continues to stymie Theo and he gets frustrated and takes his talents back to the AL

this has nothing to do with that but sometimes I think twitter hashtags are broken

for a week I had one for the emmys and I was convinced it couldn't still be that popular in my area

You'd think, right? Let the smart front office people do smart front office things with a bit of the megamillions made off the world series win

But the Ricketts just want to keep it all :sly:

i'd be much angrier if the cubs hadn't won and i was still the ultra fanboy that i was. now it's just exhausting but luckily there's so much other baseball to watch. and i can still appreciate kris bryant and javy before the bullpen ruins it all

  24. It's like they planned out how years 2017-2021 were gonna go in November 2016 based on how the NLC looked then and didn't readjust when the Brewers became world-dominant, the Reds said "nah we ain't tanking" this offseason, and we (hopefully) added the 2-3 wins we've needed to make the playoffs the last three years just by adding Goldy
